Thames River Retreat was perfect for a long-weekend family reunion. The house has plenty of space for gathering and/or privacy. The kitchen is a nice gathering space and well-equipped. The deck over looks the river and is a delight. My (adult) nephew found a local tackle shop and took the kayak out into the river and even brought back some fish for dinner. We were impressed with how little sound travels from first floor to the bedrooms, one night there was a late-night football game and those of us who went to bed early didn't hear the game. The only thing that I'd suggest is that you bring a bed-reading light if you like to read real books in bed without disturbing your partner. Very conveniently located for a family event in Mystic and museums. I wouldn't hesitate to return with a group. Peter, and the rest of the staff sent clear, helpful emails about check-in and check-out and were available for questions.
